President Series Deluxe drums mark the return of the original Pearl drum shell made from Standard Ply, six layer 7.5mm Lauan. Its explosive tonic subtlety delivers a deep, immediate power that can dialed into practically any musical situation.
Using the world's first high temperature hydraulic curing system, Pearl’s SST method was developed to craft a multi-ply, bonded drum shell with single-ply resonance and strength.
This proprietary technique begins with hand-selected premium hardwoods chosen for their unique acoustic attributes.
Each layer is milled to precise thickness and bonded into 2-ply panels.
Our trademark overlapping scarf joint seams are added to ensure a perfect air-tight fit. The wood plies are saturated with Pearl’s exclusive “AcoustiGlue”, which permeates every pore and dries to the exact consistency of the wood for optimum resonance.
Finally, the plies are formed in high temperature molds with 1000 PSI of hydraulic pressure, producing the ultimate air chamber for optimal resonance, extreme strength, and superior tone.
All shells are tested for flatness and roundness before drilling and assembly to assure supreme head-seating and tuning.

6-ply 7.5mm Lauan Shell
Drawing from the very origins of Pearl's drum manufacturing history, Lauan was the source of the original "MIJ" (Made in Japan) sound. This darker-toned medium/hardwood was the basis of thousands of shells made by Mitsuo Yanagisawa in Pearl's Chiba, Japan-based drum factory starting in 1961. Loud yet subdued, Lauan has a deep, punchy wallop with plenty of top-end attack.
Rounded 45° Bearing Edge
For balanced interaction between the head and each wood ply, this edge creates a transfer of resonant energy that is much more direct, and delivers an essential tonal tempering for even pitch and decay.

To make President Series Deluxe drums performance ready, each kit features hardware elements selected for their classic visual appeal, as well as tone and setting security.
These include the ME835LA/RA Gullwing bass drum spur, classic Battleship Lugs, and LB75 Floor Tom Bracket for secure settings around the kit, R40 Air Suspension Floor Tom Feet, hoop saving Drum Claws, and SuperHoop II Triple-Flanged Hoops.
Each of these hardware pieces lends not only to the tuning and function of each drum but also to the overall sound of the total President Series drum kit.
Features
President Series Deluxe Battle Ship Lug
Cast in 1969 as "C043" for Pearl's professional outfits (including President Series,) it has since been dubbed "The Battleship Lug" by collectors for its angular profile. The new BSL100 features the same striking look and self-aligning design, but with a more robust casting for better tuning integrity.
T-Handle Bass Drum Rods
For classic hand-tunable function and a beautiful vintage look, Pearl's T090 T-handle rods fuse with our new insulated classic Claw via a small extension sleeve (T066.) The contact points of each Claw are insulated with felt to protect bass drum hoop finish.
SuperHoop II
A sturdy triple-flanged hoop at optimum 2.3mm thickness, each is identity stamped and made for accurate and secure tuning in play without inhibiting overall shell resonance.
LB75 Bracket
Features debossed Pearl logo, internal grip function for height adjustment, and angled T-nut for better case storage.
"Gullwing" Spurs
Using the LB75 bracket, each spur features an angle secure memory lock, retractable spike tip, and folds in to the profile of the kick drum for quick breakdown and set-up.
Internal Tom Mufflers
Dial in the perfect amount of sustain with the IM100W Internal Tom Muffler. Its robust tension dial and multi-layered felt dampening pad allows head contact under the batter from the slightest touch to full contact, for a wide range of tonal combinations.
